ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Senior Jenny Fromuth (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing) knocked home a crossing pass by sophomore Ellen Parr (Columbia, MD/Atholton) with 34:18 remaining in the second half to give Elizabethtown College a 1-0 victory over Frostburg State University in the Blue Jay Classic at Ira R. Herr Field on Sunday afternoon.

Jenny Fromuth

The goal by Fromuth was her first of the season and gave the Blue Jays (1-1-0 overall) their first victory of the year after suffering a 2-1 overtime loss to Roger Williams University in their season opener on Saturday.

The Elizabethtown defense held the Bobcats (0-2-0 overall) without a shot for the final 12 minutes, 48 seconds to preserve the 1-0 lead, and kept Frostburg State pinned in their defensive end for most of the final few minutes of the contest.

The Blue Jays finished with a 9-7 edge in shots for the match, while the teams each attempted three corner kicks.

As in the first game, junior Angela Freeland (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) saw action in the first half only for the Blue Jays and made three saves, before giving way to first-year student Kristen Kelly (Bensalem, PA/Villa Joseph Marie), who made one stop in the second half and was credited with the victory. Stephanie Gwinn made six stops for Frostburg State.

In Sunday's other game, nationally-ranked College of New Jersey finished with a 44-0 edge in shots but managed just a 2-0 win over Roger Williams. The Lions scored once in each half but were denied repeatedly by Hawk keeper Jen Garside, who made 18 saves.
