ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER Elizabethtown Wins Third Straight With 3-1 Victory at St. Mary's (Md.) ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. --- Junior Jenna Russo (Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) scored a goal and dished out an assist as Elizabethtown College extended its unbeaten streak to nine matches with a 3-1 win at St. Mary's College in non-conference women's soccer action on Tuesday afternoon. Junior Carly Hoskins (Bangor, PA/Bangor) added a penalty-kick goal while junior Brooke Dotterer (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) also scored for the Blue Jays (8-1-1 overall), who led 3-0 before the Seahawks (4-5 overall) scored with 23:08 left in the second half to snap the Blue Jays' streak of consecutive scoreless minutes at 824 minutes, 52 seconds. The Blue Jays had recorded eight consecutive shutouts (seven wins, one tie) and not allowed a goal since an overtime tally in a 2-1 loss to Roger Williams University in the season opener on Sept. 1. Elizabethtown took a 1-0 lead with 28:20 left in the first half as Hoskins scored her second goal of the season on a penalty kick. Dotterer gave the Blue Jays a 2-0 advantage with 24 minutes left before intermission as she netted her third of the year off an assist by Russo. In the second half, Russo gave the Blue Jays a 3-0 edge just 29 seconds into the half as she scored her fourth of the year with an assist to senior Jenny Fromuth (Wyomissing, PA/Wyomissing). St. Mary's got on the scoreboard with 23:08 remaining on the third goal of the season by Katie Klotz. The Blue Jays finished with a 14-11 edge in shots and a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks over the Seahawks. Junior Angela Freeland (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) made five saves for her fourth victory of the season for the Blue Jays, while Elizabeth Benge made two saves for the Seahawks.
