Elizabethtown Unbeaten in 12 Matches After 3-0 Win at Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. --- Junior Jenna Russo (Florham Park, NJ/Hanover Park) scored two goals to help Elizabethtown College to a 3-0 victory over Manhattanville College in non-conference women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon.

First-year student Mallory Murphy (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) also scored for the Blue Jays (11-1-1 overall), who won their sixth consecutive match and extended their unbeaten streak to 12 matches (11 wins, one tie), one shy of the school record of 13 set during the 1996 season.

After Murphy gave the Blue Jays a 1-0 lead just 4:21 into the contest with her second goal of the season, Russo scored at 23:51 to push the Elizabethtown lead to 2-0. Russo capped the scoring with 31:18 to play as she scored her seventh goal of the season off an assist by senior Emily Gunter (Hockessin, DE/A.I. duPont).

Elizabethtown held a 14-3 edge in shots and a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks over the Valiants (0-11-2 overall).

The Blue Jays split action in goal, with first-year student Kristen Kelly (Bensalem, PA/Villa Joseph Marie) making one save in the first half and first-year student Lindsey Butler (Salem, NJ/Woodstown) making one save in the second half to help Elizabethtown to its 11th shutout of the season.

Ali Bromson made four first-half saves for Manhattanville while Maureen Hickey tallied three second-half stops.
