ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S TENNIS Regionally 13th-Ranked Elizabethtown Defeats Regionally 15th-Ranked Methodist, 7-2 FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- Elizabethtown improved to 14-3 overall in 2005-06 with a 7-2 win over Methodist College, which is ranked 15th in the Atlantic South Region of NCAA Division III, Sunday at the University of Mary Washington. Etown is ranked 13th in the Atlantic South Region. Methodist dropped to 13-5 overall with the loss. Etown swept the three doubles contests to begin the match. Stacy Shapiro (Audubon, PA/Methacton) and Laurelyn Foderaro (Harleysville, PA/Christopher Dock Mennonite) won 9-7 at number one doubles, and Emma Smith (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and Alice Yu (Athens, GA/Clarke Central) pulled out another 9-7 win at number two doubles. The number three doubles team of Heather Lander (Accident, MD/Northern Garrett) and Kristy Trimbey (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) won 8-4 for Etown. In singles, Smith won 6-3, 6-1 at number three. Yu won a 6-0, 6-0 shutout at number four singles. Lander won 6-1, 6-1 at number five, and Trimbey won a 4-6, 6-3, (10-7) come-from-behind match at number six singles. Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Wednesday, April 12 at The College of New Jersey in a 3:30 p.m. match. It is the Blue Jays' final scheduled dual match of the 2005-06 season. at Fredericksburg, Va. |
