ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S TENNIS Elizabethtown Falls to Regionally Ninth-Ranked College of New Jersey, Trimbey and Lander Own College Win Records EWING, N.J. --- Elizabethtown, which is ranked 13th in the Atlantic South Region of NCAA Division III, fell 5-4 on the road Tuesday to The College of New Jersey, which is ranked ninth in the Northeast Region of NCAA Division III. The loss drops Elizabethtown to 14-4 overall in 2005-06, in it was the team’s last scheduled match of the year. The College of New Jersey improves to 11-2 overall in 2005-06 with the win. Elizabethtown won one out of the three doubles sets at the beginning of the match, as Heather Lander (Accident, MD/Northern Garrett) and Kristy Trimbey (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) won 8-4 at number three doubles. Elizabethtown and TCNJ split the singles matches, with TCNJ winning the top three singles matches and Etown winning the bottom three matches. Alice Yu (Athens, GA/Clarke Central) won 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 at number four singles. Lander won 7-5, 7-6 (7-2), (10-6) at number five, and Trimbey won 6-0, 7-5 at number six singles. Trimbey, the lone senior on the team, now has a career singles record of 55-12, a career doubles record of 57-19, and a combined career record of 112-31. She holds the Elizabethtown records for most career doubles wins and most career combined wins, and she ranks second all-time at Etown in most career singles wins. Lander has posted a singles record of 21-3 in 2005-06, breaking the Etown season record for most singles wins of 18 that she tied last academic year. She has a doubles record of 20-2 in 2005-06, breaking the old season doubles win record of 17 set last academic year by Trimbey. Lander’s combined record for 2005-06 is 41-5, breaking the Etown combined season win record of 33, also set by Trimbey in the last academic year. At Ewing, N.J. |
