Etown Defeats Immaculata 9-0 in Final Fall Dual Match of 2005-06; Kristy Trimbey Gets 50th Career Doubles Win

IMMACULATA, Pa. --- Elizabethtown improved to 11-2 in dual matches in 2005-06 with a 9-0 road win over Immaculata University Tuesday. It was the Blue Jays' final dual match of the fall segment of their season.

Senior Kristy Trimbey (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) became the first Etown player ever to record 50 doubles wins in a career as she and first-year teammate Ashley McMaster (Sewickley, PA/Quaker Valley) combined to win 8-3 at number three. Trimbey is now also just two wins away from becoming the first Etown player ever to amass 100 combined singles and doubles wins in a career.

At number one doubles, Stacy Shapiro (Audubon, PA/Methacton) and Laurelyn Foderaro (Harleysville, PA/Christopher Dock Mennonite) won 8-0. The two doubles team of Emma Smith (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) and Alice Yu (Athens, GA/Clarke Central) won 8-2 for Etown.

In singles, Shapiro won 4-6, 7-5, (10-5) at number one. Smith claimed a 6-1, 6-3 win at number two, and Yu won 7-5, 6-2 at number three. At number four, Heather Lander (Accident, MD/Northern Garrett) won 6-1, 6-1. McMaster won 6-1, 6-1 as well at number five, and Leslie Furman (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) won 6-4, 7-6(7) at number six. It was the first win of Furman's collegiate career.

Etown will return to action at the Middle Atlantic States Collegeiate Athletic Corporation (MASCAC) Individual Singles and Doubles Championships Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23.
