Elizabethtown Falls 9-0 to Nationally Tenth-Ranked Mary Washington, 9-0, Blue Jays Wrap up 2006-07 Schedule 17-3 Overall

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. --- With a 9-0 road loss to nationally tenth-ranked University of Mary Washington Saturday, the Elizabethtown College women’s tennis team wrapped up its 2006-07 season with a 17-3 overall mark, the highest single-year win total in the history of the program. Elizabethtown must now wait to see whether or not it receives an at-large berth for the NCAA Division III tournament to know whether its season will continue.

At this point, Elizabethtown seniors Heather Lander (Accident, MD/Northern Garrett) and Stacy Shapiro (Audubon, PA/Methacton) are two of the winningest players in the history of the program. Lander holds the Etown records for most career singles wins (68), most career doubles wins (63) and most combined career wins (131). She has career marks of 68-9 in singles, 63-16 in doubles, and 131-25 overall, and in 2006-07 she has records of 19-4 in singles, 20-5 in doubles, and 39-9 overall. Her 20 doubles wins this year tie the season record she set in 2005-06. Shapiro owns career marks of 54-25 in singles, 54-28 in doubles, and 108-53 combined, ranking her third in program history in combined wins, third in doubles wins, and fourth in singles victories. In 2006-07, she has win-loss records of 17-6 in singles, 18-8 in doubles, and 35-14 overall.
