Elizabethtown Defeats Moravian 6-3 

ELIZABETHTOWN and LANCASTER, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the Commonwealth Conference Saturday with a 6-3 home win over Moravian College, which dropped to 2-1 overall and 2-1 in the conference with the loss. The match had to be moved indoors from Elizabethtown’s Alumni Courts early in the singles matches to Racquet Club West in Lancaster, Pa. due to a patch of rain.

Elizabethtown began the match by winning two of the three doubles pro sets. At number two, Etown’s Emily Swarr (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) and Alice Yu (Athens, GA/Clarke Central) won 8-3, and Cathie Martinez (Jamison, PA/Central Bucks South) and Heather Lander (Accident, MD/Northern Garrett) won 8-2 at number three doubles for Etown.

In singles, Yu won 6-0, 6-0 at number five, while Lander won 6-1, 6-0 at number six. At number two, Stacy Shapiro (Audubon, PA/Methacton) won 6-2, 6-3, and Swarr won a 1-6, 6-0, 6-1 comeback match at number three.
