ETOWN DEFEATS ALLENTOWN, 7-2, IN SEASON OPENER

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- Elizabethtown opened its season with a 7-2 road victory over Allentown Tuesday, winning five of six singles matches and two of the doubles matches.

Whitney Bull (Berwick, PA/Berwick) registered a crushing 6-0, 6-0 win at number one singles, and Erin Thompson (Middlebury, CT/Pomperaug) won 6-2, 6-0 at number two. The number one doubles team of Bull and Thompson also won 8-2 for Etown. Jen Smith (Honesdale, PA/Honesdale) rode out a close 7-6 (7-1) first set at number three to take control in the second, winning 6-0.

Elizabethtown (1-0) returns to the courts at Juniata Saturday, September 9. Match time is 1:00 p.m.
