ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S TENNIS Etown Downs Goucher, 8-1, Heather Lander Wins 6-0, 6-0, in First College Singles Decision, Two Doubles Teams win 8-0 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Etown cruised to an 8-1 non-conference win over Goucher at home Tuesday to improve to 3-0 in 2003. Playing at number six singles, first year Heather Lander (Accident, MD/Northern Garrett) won her first collegiate decision in singles by a perfect 6-0, 6-0 score. Lander had played in one previous singles match, at number six in Etown's September 4 match against Scranton, but that match was suspended by lightning when she was leading 5-2 in the first set and was not completed. Also winning big for Etown in singles were Lisa Mervine (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) and Kristy Trimbey (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West), who each won 6-1, 6-0 at number four and number five, respectively, and Mel Parenteau (Marydel, MD/North Caroline), who won 6-4, 6-0 at number three 6-4, 6-0. Etown's final singles win came at number two as Lisa Abel (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) mounted a 5-7, 6-2, (10-7) comeback victory. Also, two Etown doubles teams recorded shutouts as Lander paired up with Abel to win 8-0 at number two, and Mervine and Trimbey combined to win 8-0 at number three. At number one doubles, Parenteau and Stacy Shapiro (Audobon, PA/Methacton) were down 6-5 and rallied to win their match 8-6. At Elizabethtown, Pa.
