ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S TENNIS

Etown Falls to Commonwealth Rival Messiah, 6-3

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- Elizabethtown dropped to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League Wednesday with a 6-3 road loss to Messiah.

Etown got one point in the doubles matches as Lisa Mervine (Reading, PA/Governor Mifflin) and Kristy Trimbey (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) paired up to win 9-7 at number three doubles. Etown's two points in the singles matches came at number three, where Mel Parenteau (Marydel, MD/North Caroline) won 6-3, 6-1, and at number six, where Heather Lander (Accident, MD/Northern Garrett) won 6-3, 6-2.

The match was closer than the score suggested, as two of Messiah's singles wins went into three sets, and Messiah's win at number one doubles came on a tiebreaker.

Etown will return to action as the host of Albright Thursday, September 18, in the make-up of a previously rained-out match.
