ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S TENNIS Etown Off to Best Five-Match Start in 20 Years; Blue Jays Defeat Lebanon Valley 8-1 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown defeated Commonwealth Conference rival Lebanon Valley at home Monday 8-1 to improve to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the conference. With the victory, the Blue Jays are now off to their best start through five matches since 1984. Lebanon Valley dropped to 3-2 overall and 1-2 in the conference with the loss. The Blue Jays swept all three doubles matches, with Stacy Shapiro (Audubon, PA/Methacton) and Lisa Abel (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown) winning 8-4 at number one, Mel Parenteau (Marydel, MD/North Caroline) and Kristy Trimbey (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks East) winning 9-8 (9-7) at number two, and Heather Lander (Accident, MD/Northern Garrett) and Emma Smith (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) winning 8-3 at number three. In singles, Shapiro ground out a 3-6, 6-3, (10-7) comeback win at number one, Parenteau won 6-4, 6-0 at number two, and Smith won 6-2, 6-3 at number three to take the top three spots. Etown also won at number five and number six singles, with Lander and Trimbey each respectively winning 6-2, 6-0. Etown will return to action at home in another conference match Wednesday, September 15 against Messiah at 3:30 p.m. At Elizabethtown, Pa. Doubles competition:
