Etown Scores Forfeit Win over La Salle University Sunday

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. --- Elizabethtown was to have taken on NCAA Division I La Salle University on the road Saturday, September 18. Due to rain and wet court conditions, the match was postponed to Sunday, September 19. Then, when the Blue Jays showed up to play Sunday, La Salle had just three players available that day.

As a result, Elizabethtown received a forfeit win to improve to 7-0 overall in the 2004 season. The official score of the match is Elizabethtown 7, La Salle 0, owing to the fact that, since the match was at an NCAA Division I school, Division I scoring rules where the three doubles matches count for a single point apply.

Although the forfeited match counts in Elizabethtown's season win-loss record, according to Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rules, the results of the individual matches that were played in the forfeited match do not count in any player's individual results.

Elizabethtown will return to action later today on the road against Dickinson College in a 4:00 p.m. match.
