Blue Jays Compete at Seamus McElligott Invitational

HAVERFORD, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's track and field team was in action at the Seamus McElligott Invitational on the campus of Haverford College on Saturday afternoon.

Junior Chelsea Miles (Media, PA/Penncrest) won two events for the Blue Jays, capturing the long jump with a mark of 5.01 meters (16 feet, 5 1/4 inches) and the triple jump in 10.63 meters (34 feet, 10 1/2 inches). She also added a fourth-place finish in the high jump at 1.45 meters (4 feet, 9 inches).

First-year student Lauren Riley (Sanatoga, PA/Pottsgrove) also earned a win by taking the pole vault with a height of 2.90 meters (9 feet, 6 1/4 inches). Senior Samantha Adams (Mickleton, NJ/Padua Academy, DE) was third with a height of 2.75 meters (9 feet, 1/4 inch).

Senior Jenna Riley (Reading, PA/Reading Central Catholic) took second place in the triple jump with a leap of 10.32 meters (33 feet, 10 1/4 inches).

On the track, junior Tiffany Kulp (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) was second in the 800 meters at 2:21.34, with sophomore Megan VanDenHengel (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) in foutth at 2:24.65.

First-year student Kristen O'Brien (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) was third in the 5000 meters at 19:04.18, with junior Amanda Daws (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford) close behind in fourth at 19:05.73 as both set personal bests.

First-year student Allie Gold (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) turned in a fourth-place performance in the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.29 seconds.

Elizabethtown closed out the meet with a win in the 4x400-meter relay, as the team of VanDenHengel, sophomore Sarah Merusi (Montague, NJ/Port Jervis, NY), graduate student Lori Havrilak (West Grove, PA/St. Mark's, DE) and Miles ran a 4:22.36.
