Blue Jays Finish Fifth at Messiah Invitational

GRANTHAM, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's track and field team finished fifth out of 17 teams at the Messiah College Invitational this weekend, scoring 48 points.

First-year student Allie Gold (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) finished fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.99 seconds, and first-year student Alex Walmer (Hershey, PA/Hershey) placed seventh in the steeplechase in 13:54.91.

In field events, junior Chelsea Miles (Media, PA/Penncrest) was fourth in the triple jump (35 feet, 9 1/4 inches), fifth in the high jump (4 feet, 9 inches) and eighth in the long jump (14 feet).

First-year student Gabrielle Whitley (Lititz, PA/Warwick) tied with Miles for fifth in the high jump (4 feet, 9 inches), and senior Jenna Riley (Reading, PA/Reading Central Catholic) was sixth in the triple jump (34 feet, 8 inches).

In the discus, first-year student Sarah DeGeorge (Butler, PA/Butler) placed seventh in the discus with the fourth-best mark in program history (97 feet, 11 inches).

Messiah won the team title with 222 points, followed by Gettysburg College (158), Catholic University (59), Bridgewater College (58) and Elizabethtown (49).
