Elizabethtown College Women's Cross Country: The Elizabethtown cross country teams emerged as powerful forces to be reckoned with in both the Middle Atlantic Conference and the Mid-East Region in 1999. A total of nine runners — Dave Berdan '03, Larry Bullock '00, Jeff Harmon '01, Christian Hoch '03, Gretchen Junko '00, Maggie Martin '03, Frank Rivera '03, Dustin Scott '03 and Mike Zwatty '03 — finished in the top twenty to earn All-Conference honors at the MAC Championships October 30. Topping it all off, the men’s team was crowned MAC Champion for the first time since 1965, ending a 34 year drought, and the women’s team improved to sixth in the conference. Amazingly, the best was yet to come. At the NCAA Mid-East Regional meet hosted by Frostburg St. November 13, Bullock, Harmon, Hoch, Martin, Rivera and Zwatty eared All-Region honors. The women’s team placed 17th overall and the men’s team placed second. By finishing second out of 30 teams, the men earned one of two team berths to the NCAA National meet held November 20 at the University of Wisconsin–Oshkosh. In its first ever national meet appearance, the Blue Jays placed 24th. Additional Info on the 1999 Women's Cross Country Season: |
