ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY Etown Places Third at Capital City Classic, Every Race Decided by One Point GRANTHAM, Pa. --- Elizabethtown finished third at the Capital City Classic, hosted by Messiah, Friday. Every dual meet score was decided by just one point, as Dickinson edged Elizabethtown 27-28,while Messiah eked out a 28-29 victory over Etown. Also, Messiah squeaked past Dickinson 28-29, putting an end to a 12-year winning streak for the Red Devils.
Dickinson is the defending Centennial Conference champion and finished sixth in the nation at the 2005 NCAA Division III championship meet. Messiah is the defending Middle Atlantic Conference champion, and Elizabethtown was the Middle Atlantic Conference runner-up in 2005. Elizabethtown’s leader for the day was the race’s runner-up, junior Erin Fisher (McEwensville, PA/Warrior Run), who completed the wet, rainy 5000m course in 19:54. The rest of Elizabethtown’s top five finishers consisted of senior Erin Deihl (Aaronsburg, PA/Penns Valley), who placed fourth overall, sophomore Tiffany Kulp (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge), who placed seventh, sophomore Amanda Daws (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford), who finished 14th overall, and senior Tara Fagan (Gibsonia, PA/Pine-Richland), who finished 15th in the race. |
