Blue Jays Place Sixth in Elizabethtown Invitational

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown finished sixth out of 14 scoring teams and third out of ten NCAA Division III teams in its Elizabethtown Invitational Saturday with a score of 189 points. Dickinson College won the meet with a score of 24 points.

Elizabethtown rested several of its top runners in advance of next week’s Middle Atlantic Conference Champoinships. The Blue Jays’ top finisher in the 100-runner field of the varsity 4000m race Saturday was Erin Deihl (Aaronsburg, PA/Penns Valley), who placed 26th in 16:12. Amanda Daws (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford) was Etown’s number two finisher in 36th place in 16:40. First-year student Megan VanDenHengel (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) placed 37th overall in 16:43.

In the unscored “JV” mixed men’s and women’s combined 4000m and 6000m race, Elizabethtown’s top finisher in the 4000m portion of the course was first-year student Flori McClain (West Chester, PA/Unionville) in 67th place in a field of 126, including men, with a time of 17:44.

Elizabethtown will return to action at the MAC Championships at DeSales University Saturday, October 28.
