Elizabethtown Women Compete at Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College women's cross country team competed at the Dickinson College Long/Short Invitational on Saturday afternoon.

A total of 12 schools competed in both races, with their finishes combined to produce overall results. The Blue Jays were third overall with 136 points, after finishing fourth among 20 schools in the 4,000-meter "Short" race and sixth among 17 schools in the 6,000-meter "Long" race.

In the "Short" race, senior Erin Fisher (McEwensville, PA/Warrior Run) was second with a time of 14:23.21, junior Tiffany Kulp (Perkasie, PA/Pennridge) placed 11th in 15:15.65, while sophomore Megan VanDenHengel (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) was 38th in 16:09.97.

In the "Long" race, first-year student Kristen O'Brien (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) was the Blue Jays' top finisher as she took 13th with a time of 24:59.71. Senior Sarah Grove (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) was 34th in 26:12.40 and junior Amanda Daws (Thorofare, NJ/West Deptford) was 44th in 26:37.26.

Also in the top 50 were sophomore Sarah Lanphier (York, PA/Central York) in 47th at 26:46.70, and first-year student Kristin Bowen (West Chester, PA/Downingtown West) in 49th at 26:54.79.

Dickinson College won the team championship with 32 points, followed by Gettysburg College (131), Elizabethtown (136), University of Mary Washington (141) and Messiah College (156).
