Global Voices-- "An international, volunteer-led project that collects, summarizes, and gives context to some of the best self-published content found on blogs, podcasts, photo sharing sites, and videoblogs from around the world, with a particular emphasis on countries outside of Europe and North America." "A non-profit project founded at Harvard Law School’s Berkman Center for Internet & Society, a research think-tank focused on the Internet’s impact on society."

Google News-- Excellent portal draws news from thousands of English-language sources worldwide, using Google full-text search technology for constant real-time updating, allowing users to scan headlines and to search in depth. Has searchable archives. International versions of Google News allow country and language-specific searches.

MagPortal-- Well-structured, large, searchable, annotated directory of free magazine articles online, including those in international affairs topics.

News Mantis-- Posts a "lengthy list of permission-based RSS feeds and streaming video that pull together stories from news sources located throughout the world. You may address these feeds by region or country or choose from a lengthy list of topics and issues."

NewsNow-- An excellent London-based news aggregator that constantly updates feeds from thousands of press and newsblog sources, with access by hundreds of topics and subtopics or by keyword search.

Track This Now-- "Track news articles on any topic across the world in real time... Enter a keyword and select the country or country group that you want to track," then "Click on the placemarks on the map to read news from that country" about your topic.

World News Network-- Excellent, highly-rated gateway to a very large number of World News Network online news sources worldwide (including specialized ones), by region, country, and topics of coverage, plus search capabilities for news items in many languages.

• Christian Science Monitor-- Excellent online content from an award-winning U.S. daily with an international perspective.

• Economist-- The outstanding global news weekly from London, with research tools and searchable archives.

• eFinancial News-- Electronic edition of Financial News, an excellent source for European financial news.

• Environmental News Network-- Excellent for news, features, multimedia, and special reports.

• euronews-- Leading European news video channel, with international news, weather, features, and topic directories in several languages, from a European perspective.

• Financial Times-- The famous international business and finance newspaper from London.

• Fiscal Times-- "Digital news, opinion and media service devoted to comprehensive quality reporting on vital fiscal, budgetary, health care and economic issues... that provides an array of original reporting and analysis."

• Foreign Policy Digest-- Analytical news site that focuses "exclusively on explaining world affairs through a platform designed for the digital media generation. We aim to make sense of new and interesting global developments to help Americans better understand the world in which we live."

• Global Post-- "Dedicated to broad coverage throughout the world and especially of those geographic areas that have been historically under-reported by the American news media."

• Institute for War & Peace Reporting-- News, analysis, reports, media programs, free e-mail bulletins, and links about current world conflicts.

• International Business Times-- Fine source for global business news, with several country-based international editions available, in the respective languages.

• International Herald Tribune-- This excellent news source from Paris mastheads itself as "the global edition of the New York Times."

• Inter Press Service-- World news stressing developing countries, from a "global news agency producing independent news and analysis about events and global processes affecting the economic, social and political development of peoples and nations, especially in the [global] South." Focus of the site is on civil society and the South, development issues, globalization, and those excluded from it.

• Le Monde Diplomatique-- World-renown French language newspaper; this link is to the English-language edition with searchable archives.

• New Europe-- "The European weekly, published since 1993, is a unique product carrying news and analyses from 49 countries with a particular emphasis on the EU institutions and EU-World relations."

• New York Times-- Fine international section. Site features a searchable archive of full-text NYT news items back to 1851.

• Overseas Security Advisory Council-- From the U.S. Department of State, advisories on security-related issues around the world including "Travel Advisories, Public Announcements, daily security related news articles, overseas reports on security and crime incidents, terrorist group profiles, significant anniversary dates, general crime information for cities and countries, locations and contacts at U.S. posts overseas, and updates on new or unusual situations."

• Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty-- "Daily report of developments in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Caucasus and Central Asia, based on news gathered by the correspondents, services and regional specialists of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty," whose mission is "to provide uncensored news and information to countries where a free press is either banned by the government or not fully established."

• Reuters-- Top world and business news stories from this prestigious agency.

• Time-- The prestigious American weekly news magazine, available online in several editions-- United States, Europe, Asia, and South Pacific.

• Voice of America News-- News and special reports, printed and audio (in scores of languages), from this U.S. government international service.
