Diplomacy Monitor-- From the St. Thomas University School of Law, Miami, a fine searchable site that tracks, almost in real-time, online diplomatic communiqués, press briefings, and related official documents worldwide in several languages, with breakouts by issue, region, and nation-to-nation interaction, including in human rights issues.
EINnews-- Very useful global news service for "access to breaking news that is organized within 260+ country, regional, U.S. States and specialized topic sections. EINnews content is derived from monitoring over 4,000 different online sources."
Financial Times-- The famous international business newspaper from London has a really useful search facility, giving access to articles from top source periodicals worldwide.
Global Voices-- "An international, volunteer-led project that collects, summarizes, and gives context to some of the best self-published content found on blogs, podcasts, photo sharing sites, and videoblogs from around the world, with a particular emphasis on countries outside of Europe and North America." Google News-- Excellent portal draws news from thousands of English-language sources worldwide, using Google full-text search technology for constant real-time updating, allowing users to scan headlines and to search in depth. Has searchable archives. International versions of Google News allow country and language-specific searches.
MagPortal-- Well-structured, large, searchable, annotated directory of free magazine articles online, including those in international affairs topics.
MetaGrid-- Directory and search engine for thousands of newspapers and magazines online, by topic, country, or world region.
MSN News Search-- From the Microsoft Network, "with content from thousands of news services, News Search gives you the scoop on the latest events and news stories from around the web."
Newsalerts-- News aggregator that pulls information from many leading worldwide sources into a single website with constant updating, by top stories and interest areas.
WorldNews Network-- Excellent, highly-rated gateway to a very large number of World News Network online news sources worldwide (including specialized ones), by region, country, and topics of coverage, plus links to other local (mainly) English-language news sources. Their WorldNews.com site provides searchable and archived news by country, leading sources (printed and audio), or topic, in many languages. Economist-- The outstanding global news weekly from London, with library and searchable archives. Their Global Agenda feature is a concise analysis of major international issues and events. Note the Country Briefings, summaries with "articles from The Economist, background profiles, forecasts and statistics from the Economist Intelligence Unit, market and currency updates, newswires and links," and the Country Surveys.

Global Beat-- For journalists and editors who cover international issues, weekly analyses of key global security issues from research organizations, important official announcements and speeches, and documents. Has search engine and good links. From NYU's Center for War, Peace, and the News Media.
Global Security Newswire-- From the Nuclear Threat Initiative and the National Journal Group, daily news and analysis on nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, terrorism and related issues, with summaries and links to key articles from news media around the world plus original reporting from Washington and elsewhere.
InsideWorld News-- "Collection of country and region web sites providing local news and information to a worldwide audience," with free daily e-mail service on country of your choice. Also offers country portals, country information, and other such links.
Institute for War & Peace Reporting-- News, analysis, reports, media programs, free e-mail bulletins, and links about current world conflicts.
International Herald Tribune-- This excellent news source from Paris bills itself as "the world's daily newspaper."
Inter Press Service-- World news stressing developing countries, from a "global news agency producing independent news and analysis about events and global processes affecting the economic, social and political development of peoples and nations, especially in the [global] South." Focus of the site is on civil society and the South, development issues, globalization, and those excluded from it.
