Potential employers are increasingly interested in hiring graduates who have had meaningful "hands-on" business experience during their college career. Elizabethtown College works closely with businesses, accounting firms and Fortune 500 companies located in central Pennsylvania and throughout the East Coast to place students into internships during their junior and senior years.

Students are strongly encouraged to participate under the guidance of a faculty member and may receive academic credit for their experience. Internships can be scheduled during the academic year or during the summer. A successful internship gives the student a competitive advantage during the interview process and often leads to an offer of employment.

The department is also an approved site for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program of the Internal Revenue Service. Through this program, junior and senior accounting and business majors assist low-income and elderly taxpayers in preparing their returns.
