ETOWN LOSES TO YORK, 3-1
YORK, Pa. --- Elizabethtown suffered its fourth consecutive loss Thursday, falling to York College, 3-1. The Blue Jays were outgunned offensively, as York fired a barrage of 36 shots compared to Etown's 13.
York led the game 2-0 at halftime. Beth Purcell (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) narrowed the gap to one with a goal at 29:12 in the second stanza, assisted by Brandy Espenshade (Grantville, PA/Lower Dauphin). York pulled further ahead with a goal at 29:12 in the second period.
The goaltending of Kate VanValkenburgh (Malvern, PA/Great Valley) was another bright spot for the Blue Jays, as she faced down 36 shots, gave up only three goals and made a season-high 28 saves in the net.
The Blue Jays (6-10) return to action at home against Juniata Saturday, October 16. Game time is noon.
