Etown Finishes Second at DeSales Tournament, Falls to Host 78-66 Saturday, Defeats Grove City 77-52 Friday; Brian Loftus Reaches 1,000 Point Plateau; Ian Daecher Named to All-Tournament Team

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- Elizabethtown finished second in the DeSales University Casa Mia Tournament Saturday following a 78-66 loss to the tournament host in the championship game. The Blue Jays (5-4) had previously defeated Grove City College 77-52 in the first round Friday. In that game, Etown senior Brian Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) became Elizabethtown's 27th 1,000 career-point scorer when he scored 13 points to bring his career total to 1,003. Through Saturday's game, Loftus' career total now stands at 1,006. Also, Etown junior Ian Daecher (Lititz, PA/Warwick) was named to the all-tournament team Saturday after he scored 12 points and led Etown with three assists against DeSales and scored five points and led the team with ten rebounds against Grove City.

Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) led Etown with 13 points against DeSales, and Daecher and Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively. Flynn led Etown with five rebounds.

David Bright was the top scorer for DeSales (8-1) with 17 points, while Joe Teprovich added 15 points. Michael Venafra and Jim Zinn each scored 14 points for DeSales.

Elizabethtown will return to action at home Monday, January 6 against Haverford in a 7:00 p.m.
