Etown Wins Springfield (MA) Naismith Classic with 80-68 Victory over Tournament Host

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. --- Elizabethtown improved to 7-4 overall and captured the 2004 Springfield College (MA) Naismith Classic Tournament championship Sunday night with an 80-68 win over the host Springfield Pride. The Blue Jays pulled away from a tight contest late in the second half to take home the win, their fourth in a row.

Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) led the Blue Jays in scoring with 20 points, and he shot five-for-eight from the field and eight-for-11 from the free throw line. Equaling his performance from the foul line was sophomore guard Greg Adams (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon), who wound up with 13 points and three assists. Andrew Flynn (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) totaled 14 points on six-for-nine shooting from the field for Etown, and Dan Keane (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) scored 10 points upon going four-for-five from the field.

Derek Yvon was Springfield's only double-digit scorer on the night, and he totaled almost half the Pride's offense with 33 points, including a 13-for-13 performance from the free throw line.

Etown will return to action on the road Wednesday, January 7 against St. Mary's College of Maryland at 5:00 p.m.
