ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Edges Widener 64-63 on Last Second Conrad Three-Pointer CHESTER, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College's men's basketball team posted a key Commonwealth Conference victory Saturday, defeating Widener University on the road 64-63 on a last-second three-pointer from the left corner by Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) off a Jon Connor (Hershey, PA/Hershey) assist. Etown improved to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in the conference with the win, while Widener, last year's conference runner-up, dropped to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the Commonwealth. Conrad led Etown in points with 12, in rebounds with nine, and in assists with seven. Greg Adams (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) added 11 points and a team high of three steals. Connor finished with 10 points and four assists, and Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) scored 10 points, pulled down seven rebounds, and totaled four assists for Etown. Conrad is now 22 points away from reaching the 1,000 career point plateau. Essien Ford led Widener in scoring with 17 points, and Matt Sheaffer and Malcolm Thomas each scored 13 points for Widener. Etown will return to action Wednesday, January 19 when it hosts Messiah College in a 7:30 p.m. game. At Schwartz Athletic Center, Chester, Pa. |
