Lebanon Valley Edges Etown 74-66
ANNVILLE, Pa. --- Lebanon Valley edged Elizabethtown 74-66 in Annville Thursday night to drop the visiting Blue Jays to 13-11 overall and 7-6 in the Commonwealth Conference. Lebanon Valley improved to 17-5 overall and 9-4 in the conference with the win.
Lebanon Valley held a 30-26 lead at the half, and the Flying Dutchmen shot 51.2% (21-for-41) from the field for the game and 60.0% (12-for-20) from the field in the second half. The Flying Dutchmen also made eight out of 12 three-point attempts (66.7%) and hit 24 out of 30 free throws (80.0%). Etown shot 25-for-61 (41.0%) from the field, 31.3% (5-for-16) from three point range, and 55.0% (11-for-20) from the free throw line.
Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) led Etown in scoring with 21 points. He shot 8-for-14 from the field. Brian Schreiber (Mechanicsburg, PA/East Pennsboro) added 11 points from off the bench for Etown. Dan Keane (Harrisburg, PA/Central Bucks East) was Etown's top rebounder with eight boards, and he added seven points.
J.D. Byers scored 35 points to lead the Lebanon Valley offense. Jimmy Curran added 15 points, and Steve Buzinski scored 11 points and led LVC in rebounds with nine.
Elizabethtown now faces a must-win situation in the final game of the regular season Saturday if it is to keep its playoff chances alive. The Blue Jays will host Moravian in a 4:00 p.m. conference game Saturday, February 19.
