Elizabethtown Defeats Scranton 63-61 to Win Blue Jay Classic Title; Washington (Md.) Downs Penn College 81-57 in Consolation; Etown's Kyle Conrad Named Tournament MVP, Andrew Flynn on All-Tournament Team

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's basketball team won its 2004 Kistler Buildings Blue Jay Classic tournament championship Saturday with a 63-61 victory over the University of Scranton (1-1) to improve to 2-0 overall. In the tournament's consolation game, Washington College (Md.) (1-1) defeated Penn College of Technology (2-2) 81-57.

The All-Tournament Team of the Blue Jay Classic consisted of Greg Davis from Penn College, Andrew Gentile from Washington, Darren Cannon from Scranton, Brian O'Donnell from Scraton, Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) from Elizabethtown, and tournament MVP Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) from Elizabethtown.

Etown, which had led 31-22 over Scranton at halftime, staved off a late Scranton run to secure the victory in the game's closing minutes. Jon Connor (Hershey, PA/Hershey) led Etown in scoring with 14 points, and Conrad added 12 points. Flynn led the Blue Jays in rebounds with nine, and he added nine points as well. Dan Keane (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) scored 10 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Blue Jays.

O'Donnell led the Royals and all players in the game in scoring with 18 points and in rebounds with 13. Cannon added 12 points and seven rebounds for Scranton, and Mike McGowan scored 11 points for the Royals.
Elizabethtown will return to action on the road Tuesday, November 23 in an 8:00 p.m. game against Lycoming College.
