ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Wins Conference Opener 77-61 over Susquehanna ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Elizabethtown College men's basketball team won its Commonwealth Conference opener 77-61 over Susquehanna University at home Wednesday night to improve to 4-1 overall. Susquehanna dropped to 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference with the loss. The Blue Jays converted 19 of 21 free throw attempts for 90.5% accuracy over the course of the game. Etown also hit six of its 11 attempts from behind the three-point line, while Susquehanna made just three of 19 three-point attempts. Susquehanna also shot just 38.3% (18-for-47) from the field over the game, and the Crusaders converted 22 of 28 (78.6%) free throw attempts. Kyle Conrad (Shillington, PA/Governor Mifflin) led Etown in scoring with 21 points, and he shot 8-for-12 from the field and 3-for-5 from three-point range, grabbed five rebounds, made three steals, and had four assists. Dan Keane (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin East) scored 13 points, shot 5-for-11 from the field, and pulled down six rebounds. Andrew Flynn (Chalfont, PA/Central Bucks West) also grabbed a team-high of six rebounds for Etown, and he scored 12 points. Alex Rakow (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon Catholic) scored 10 points from off the bench from Etown and had five rebounds, and Greg Adams (Lebanon, PA/Lebanon) led Etown in assists with five, made three steals, and totaled four rebounds. Bubba Mills (Reading, PA/Reading Central Catholic) contributed nearly half of Susquehanna's offense with 28 points, and he was also the Crusaders' leading rebounder with seven boards. He shot 9-for-13 from the field and 10-for-11 from the free throw line. Chad Lauer (Elysburg, PA/Southern Columbia) added 10 points and five rebounds for Susquehanna. Etown will return to action on the road Saturday, December 4 on the road at Albright College in an 8:00 p.m. Commonwealth Conference game. At Thompson Gymnasium, Elizabethtown, Pa. |
