ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL Elizabethtown Halts Skid, Defeats Susquehanna 84-74 SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College ended its seven-game losing streak Wednesday night with an 84-74 road win over Commonwealth Conference rival Susquehanna University. The Blue Jays improve to 7-12 overall and 2-7 in the conference with the win and halt their longest slide since the 1972-73 season. Susquehanna drops to 13-7 overall and 5-4 in the conference with the loss. Elizabethtown made 28 out of 34 (82.4%) free throw attempts, while Susquehanna converted 13 of just 17 attempts (76.5%) from the charity stripe. Chad Piersol (Elverson, PA/Owen J. Roberts) led Elizabethtown in scoring with 17 points, and he grabbed five rebounds and shot 10-for-10 from the free throw line. Chris Fairbanks (Lititz, PA/Warwick) added 14 points from off the bench, and Michael Schatzmann (Paradise, PA/Pequea Valley) scored 12 points as well for Etown. Kevin Cuff was Susquehanna’s top scorer with 21 points, and he pulled down eight rebounds. Joel Patch was the game’s top rebounder with nine, and he added 14 points for Susquehanna. Andy Gaebel scored 18 points from off the bench for Susquehanna, and Brad Okonak added 11, also from off the bench.
