ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL
FISHER POURS IN 30 TO LEAD SCRANTON PAST ETOWN 74-67
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Jason Fisher, the Middle Atlantic Conference's second leading scorer, poured in a game-high 30 points as Scranton (12-8, 6-4) stopped Elizabethtown 74-67 in MAC action on Saturday. The loss was the third straight for the Blue Jays (10-9, 5-5), their longest losing streak of the season.
Pat McDonough (14 points, 12 rebounds) and T.J. McNulty (13 points, 11 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles as the Royals improved to 12-8 on the season. The win also moved head coach Robert Bessoir four wins away from 500 for his career.
Dan Andros led the way for Etown with 15 points while Brad Karli posted season highs with ten points and nine assists. Chris Satelle added 12 points and six rebounds while Ryan Billet scored 13 points to move into seventh place on the Blue Jays' all-time scoring list with 1,522 points.
After Etown took a 44-43 lead on a jumper by Satelle with 9:14 remaining, Scranton scored 21 of the next 31 points, including 12 from Fisher, to take a 65-54 advantage with 3:16 left. The Jays cut it to five on another Satelle basket and four points from Adam Weber, but could get no closer as the Royals hit eight free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Scranton, which came in as the ninth best free throw shooting team in Division III, went 17-for-21 from the line on the evening while holding Etown to 32.4 percent shooting from the field.
Etown returns to action on Monday, February 9 at home against Alvernia College. Game time is 8 p.m.
