ETOWN RUNS WINNING STREAK TO FIVE WITH 73-60 WIN AT WIDENER; CRISTOFOLETTI SCORES CAREER-HIGH 20 POINTS
CHESTER, Pa. --- Kevin Cristofoletti scored a career-high 20 points and Adam Weber added 16 points to lead Elizabethtown to a 73-60 win over Widener in MAC Commonwealth League action on Tuesday. With the win, the Blue Jays improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the league.
Brian Schmoyer chipped in with 11 points and seven assists as Etown won for the fifth straight game, its longest winning streak since the Jays won six straight to open the 1996-97 season. Mark Sweet also keyed the effort with eight points and a team-high 11 rebounds.
Mike Siuchta led three players in double figures with 17 points for Widener (3-5, 1-2). Chaz Williamson was next on the Pioneer scoring list with 16 points while teammate Chris Hightower added 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Cristofoletti and Weber each scored eight first-half points to help stake Etown to a 34-20 lead heading into the locker room. The Blue Jay defense held the Pioneers to seven field goals on 7-for-25 (28.0 percent) shooting in the first half and to 23-for-62 (37.1 percent) shooting for the game.
A.J. Beamer collected nine points, six rebounds and four assists for Etown. Cristofoletti, whose previous high-scoring game was a 12-point effort against Eastern Mennonite on November 28, also tied a career-best with five rebounds. After averaging 7.7 points per game off the bench last season, Weber has reached double figures in scoring in all seven games this year.
Etown returns to action on Thursday, December
10 at home against Millersville University. Game time is 7 p.m.
