ETOWN SQUEAKS PAST SUSQUEHANNA, 58-56, FOR FIRST CONFERENCE VICTORY

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- Elizabethtown picked up its first conference victory of the season in a 58-56 win over Susquehanna Saturday, halting the Crusaders' five game win streak. The Blue Jays are now 5-7 overall and 1-4 in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth, while Susquehanna falls to 9-4 overall and 3-2 in the conference.

After falling behind early in the game, the Blue Jays took the lead with 11:43 left in the first half and held on the rest of the way. Etown managed to build its lead to 12 points in the second half before Susquehanna rallied and pulled to within two points by the end of the game. Susquehanna also missed six shots to in the final seconds of the game, including one which was blocked by Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty). As a team, Etown shot 9 for 11 from the foul line while Susquehanna shot 4 for 11.

Porambo led the Blue Jays with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Mark Sweet (Sadsburyville, PA/Coatesville) and Chris Sattele (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) each had 12 points for Etown, and Sweet added nine rebounds and led the team with five assists.

Elizabethtown returns to action at home Tuesday against Moravian. Game time is 8:00 p.m.
