BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Elizabethtown saw its Middle Atlantic Conference postseason hopes effectively curtailed by a 76-68 road loss to Moravian Tuesday night. With the loss, the Blue Jays fall to 5-8 in the MAC Commonwealth and 12-11 overall, while Moravian improves to 6-7 in the conference and 10-13 overall.

Etown trailed 33-32 following an intensely played first half during which the lead changed hands ten times. The Blue Jays shot 50% from the field in the first half, and Brian Marquette (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) led the team with 7 points a halftime.

Elizabethtown took a five point lead in the opening minutes of the second half on a pair of jumpers from Brian Loftus (Doylestown, PA/Central Bucks West) and a lay-up by Bob Porambo (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty). Moravian bounced back to retake the lead on a shot by Chris Hayn at 13:08, but the Blue Jays rebounded to lead by three points with 8:29 to go.

A three-pointer by Kevin Hall put Moravian ahead to stay with 7:21 remaining. Moravian capitalized on frequent foul shots, as it shot 20 for 27 from the foul line, as opposed to Elizabethtown which converted three of only seven opportunities in foul shots.

Elizabethtown's scoring was led by Loftus, who had a career-high 15 points on the night. Marquette and Mark Sweet (Sadsburyville, PA/Coatesville) added 12 each, and Ross Unruh (Denver, PA/Cocalico) scored 11 points. Porambo led the team with six rebounds.

Jim O'Rourke led Moravian with 14 points and six rebounds, and Hayn also had six rebounds for the Greyhounds.

Elizabethtown returns to action for the final game of the regular season at home against Juniata Saturday, February 19. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
