Fifth-Ranked Etown Defeats Wilkes 4-0, Brian Albrecht Scores Twice
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Nationally fifth-ranked Elizabethtown defeated Wilkes 4-0 at home Saturday to improve to 14-1-1 overall in 2003. Wilkes drops to 6-10-1 with the non-conference loss.
Brian Albrecht (Baltimore, MD/Patapsco) scored each of Etown's first two goals, at 1:53 and 58:26, respectively. Steve Custer (Baltimore, MD/Dundalk) and Bryan Noll (Fleetwood, PA/Oley Valley) assisted the first goal, and Casey Moore (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson) assisted the second. Kevin Weiler (Clive, IA/Valley) scored at 73:42 off assists by Chris Boushell (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg) and Zach Eddinger (Middletown, CT/Middletown), and Brian Zalasky (Milford, PA/Delaware Valley) added the final goal at 76:57 off a John Aronowicz (Exton, PA/Downingtown) assist.
Michael Ciattei (Jarrettsville, MD/St. Paul's School-Baltimore) and Edwin Tichenor (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) combined in the Etown goal for the shutout, with Ciattei making three saves. Etown out-shot Wilkes 17-3 and held a 17-1 advantage in corner kicks. The Blue Jays were only able to convert one of those 17 corner kicks into goals, however.
Etown will return to action at home Wednesday, October 29 against Commonwealth Conference rival Juniata in a 7:00 p.m. game. The game against Penn State-Altoona that was to be played Monday, October 27 has been cancelled.
