Etown Defeats Albright, 2-0, Blue Jays Get All-Time Win Number 696
EWING, N.J. --- Elizabethtown moved within four wins of the 700 mark all-time with a 2-0 Commonwealth Conference win at home over Albright College Tuesday night. Etown improved to 8-2-3 overall and 2-0-1 in the conference with the win, while Albright dropped to 2-10-2 overall and 0-4 in the Commonwealth with the loss.
The score suggested a game much closer than the one that actually took place, owing to the fact that Albright first-year goaltender Joe Hartmann (Hopewell, NJ/Hopewell Valley Central) made 16 saves over the course of the game. Etown held a 29-4 edge in total shots and an 18-3 advantage in shots on goal, conditions that were nearly negated by Hartmann's performance in the net.
In the Etown goal, senior Edwin Tichenor (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) needed to make three saves to preserve the Blue Jay shutout.
Etown senior J.T. Liss (Bayville, NJ/Central Regional) figured prominently in both of the Blue Jays' goals, scoring the first off a Brian Healy (Newark, DE/A.I. DuPont) assist at 28:25 and assisting the second at 83:57 by serving up a corner kick that Owen Friedrich (Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) netted.
Andrew Kummerer (Glenmoore, PA/Coatesville) led Etown in shots on the night with eight, as well as in shots on goal with five. Healy had five total shots and four shots on goal as well.
Etown will return to action Saturday, October 16 for Elizabethtown College's Homecoming at 4:30 p.m. against York College (Pa.).
