Elizabethtown Defeats Lebanon Valley 1-0 to Advance to Conference Championship Game
ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College defeated Lebanon Valley College 1-0 in the first round of the Commonwealth Conference playoffs at home Tuesday night to improve to 13-3-3 overall and advance to Saturday's conference championship game. Lebanon Valley drops to 10-5-2 overall with the loss.
The only game of the goal was scored just 5:04 after the opening whistle when Brian Healy (Newark, DE/A.I. DuPont) scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season off a Mike Helsel (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra Area) assist. Healy flicked the pass from Helsel straight into the goal.

Etown out-shot Lebanon Valley 13-7 over the course of the game, and LVC goalkeeper John Mentzer (Myerstown, PA/ELCO) made six saves. Etown goalkeeper Edwin Tichenor (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) made five saves to preserve the Etown shutout.
Elizabethtown will next face Messiah on the road Saturday at a time to be determined in the Commonwealth Conference championship game. Messiah, the top seed in the playoffs, defeated Widener 3-0 at home Tuesday night.
