Elizabethtown Defeats Drew 2-1 in Overtime

MADISON, N.J. --- Elizabethtown College improved to 4-1-1 overall with a 2-1 double overtime road win over Drew University (1-2-1) Wednesday night.

Drew scored the game’s first goal at 40:44 when Greg Zizik scored off assists from Dan Bonder and Brian Dempsey. Elizabethtown tied the game early in the second half at 52:25 when Tom Reinmiller (Cranberry Twp., PA/Sewickley Academy) scored unassisted. The teams remained locked in a 1-1 tie through regulation time and through the first ten-minute overtime period. At 107:26, with just 2:24 remaining on the clock in the final overtime period, Etown’s George Severini (Havertown, PA/Haverford) broke the stalemate with an unassisted goal.

Drew held a 12-11 edge in shots, although Etown out-shot Drew 2-0 in overtime. Etown also held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Elizabethtown will return to action at home Saturday, September 16 against Penn State-Altoona in a 7:00 p.m. game.
