Blue Jays Defeat Juniata 6-1, Improve to 10-4 Overall, 6-0 in Conference

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- With a 6-1 home win over Juniata College in the make-up of a previously rained out Commonwealth Conference match Friday evening, Elizabethtown improved to 10-4 overall and 6-0 in the conference. Juniata dropped to 6-4 overall and 2-4 in the conference with the loss.

Etown swept all three doubles matches to begin competition. Thomas Nyst (Apeldoorn, The Netherlands/Walter Bosch) and Greg Voshell (Chester Heights, PA/Garnet Valley) won an 8-0 shutout at number one. At number two, Josh Miller (Indiana, PA/Indiana) and Pepijn Dekker (The Hague, The Netherlands/VCL) won 8-1. The number three doubles team of Erik Sawchuk (Royersford, PA/Spring-Ford) and Yero Saponjian (Yerevan, Armenia/Oshavan) won 8-2 for Etown.

In singles, Nyst and Dekker registered 6-0, 6-1 wins at number one and five singles, respectively. Voshell won 6-2, 6-1 at number three, and Miller won 6-2, 6-2 at number four. At number two singles, Saponjian fought to a 6-3, 3-6, (10-0) win.

Etown will return to action Saturday, April 16 at 11:00 a.m. against Waynesburg College in the makeup of another previously rained-out match.
