Elizabethtown College Men's Track and Field Etown's Jason Patterson Earns All-America Honors in Triple Jump at NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships GREENCASTLE, Ind. --- Elizabethtown College freshman Jason Patterson (Upper Marlboro, MD/Bowie) became the school's first-ever indoor track & field All-American, as well as the first All-American since the track & field program regained varsity status in 2000, Saturday, as he placed seventh in the nation in the triple jump at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships at DePauw University. Patterson is actually Elizabethtown's second track & field All-American overall, as Michael Bomberger earned the honor in the javelin in 1980. Patterson twice attained a distance of 46'9-1/2" to place seventh overall out of the 12 competitors at the national championship. The top eight earned All-America honors. Patterson's distance at the NCAA Indoor Championships was 12-1/4" shy of his personal and program record, set at the 2003 Middle Atlantic Conference Indoor Championships March 1. With the conclusion of the national championship, Elizabethtown's indoor season is over. The Blue Jays' outdoor season will begin Friday, March 28 and Saturday, March, 29 at the Raleigh Relays at North Carolina State and at the Susquehanna University Invitational. |
