Elizabethtown College Sophomore Kelly Downs Named to All-Commonwealth Conference Team in Volleyball

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown College sophomore middle hitter Kelly Downs (Airville, PA/Red Lion) has been named to the All-Commonwealth Conference Second Team in volleyball for the second year in a row.

Downs is leading the Blue Jays in kills with 358, in hitting percentage with .353, and in blocks with 100. She is also second on the team in service aces with 62, and she has 68 digs in 2005. Over the course of the season, Downs was named to the All-Tournament Team of the University of Scranton Tournament, the All-Tournament Team of the Elizabethtown Blue Jay Classic, and the All-Tournament Team of the Washington & Lee Invitational. Her 358 kills thus far this season are the fourth-highest season total in Etown history.

In her two-year career, Downs has totaled 660 kills, 64 service aces, 84, digs, 264 blocks, and a hitting percentage of .351.

The Elizabethtown College volleyball team is currently 17-14 overall. The Blue Jays have the third seed in the Commonwealth Conference playoffs and will be facing second-seeded Lebanon Valley College on the road tonight in a 7:00 p.m. conference semifinal match.
