ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. Six members of the 2000 Elizabethtown College women's soccer team have been named Commonwealth Conference All-Stars, and Dina Jingoli (Morrisville, PA/Notre Dame, NJ) was named co-Most Valuable Player of the Commonwealth Conference. Making the conference first team from Etown included Jingoli, a junior midfielder, junior defender Rachel Chieppa (Cheswick, PA/Springdale), senior midfielder Christy Callahan (Dallas, PA/Dallas), and senior forward Andrea Thompson (West Lawn, PA/Holy Name). Making the conference second team from Elizabethtown included sophomore defender Taylor Gauvin (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) and freshman sweeper Megan Halladay (Wallingford, PA/Strath Haven).
In addition to being named a first team conference all-star, Dina Jingoli was named conference MVP for the first time this season, and she shares the award with Melissa Lehman of Moravian. Jingoli started all 21 games for the Blue Jays in 2000. She finished the season the third-leading scorer on the team with 11 goals and 6 assists for 31 points.
Through three seasons, Jingoli has collected 18 goals and 22 assists for 58 career points. In 1999, she was a member of the Commonwealth Conference Academic Honor Roll and was a Commonwealth Conference All-Star.
Jingoli is majoring in elementary education with a minor in human services at Elizabethtown. She is a 1998 graduate of Notre Dame High School.
Rachel Chieppa started all 21 games for the Blue Jays this season. Chieppa scored three goals and had three assists for nine points from the backfield this season. Her career totals through three years are five goals and seven assists for 17 career points.
Chieppa is majoring in international business with a minor in Spanish at Elizabethtown. She is a 1998 graduate of Springdale High School.
Christy Callahan, a team captain, started all 21 games for the Blue Jays, scoring one goal and leading the team with seven assists for 9 points this season.
Over the course of her career, she compiled 11 goals and 26 assists for 48 points. She is a two-time conference all-star.
Callahan is majoring in biology at Elizabethtown. She is a 1997 graduate of Dallas High School.
Andrea Thompson started 18 and played in all 21 games for the Blue Jays this season. She finished second on the team in scoring with 12 goals and 5 assists for 31 points.
Over the course of her career, Thompson collected 40 goals and 23 assists for 103 career points placing her third on the all-time scoring list. Thompson is a three-time Commonwealth Conference all-star and was named to last year's NSCAA/Umbro All-Mid-Atlantic Regional Team.
Thompson is majoring in biology with a minor in psychology at Elizabethtown. She is a 1996 graduate of Holy Name High School.
Taylor Gauvin started all 21 games for the Blue Jays this season. Gauvins play anchored a solid defense that recorded seven shutouts on the season. She had one assist from the backfield, and was named a conference all-star for the first time this season.
Gauvin is majoring in biology at Elizabethtown. She is a 1999 graduate of Perry Hall High School.
Megan Halladay started all 21 games for the Blue Jays as a freshman, scoring 2 goals and one assist for five points. She was a key element in an Elizabethtown defense which recorded seven shutouts this season, and she was named a conference all-star for the first time.
Halladay is majoring in business at Elizabethtown. She is a 2000 graduate of Strath Haven High School.
The Elizabethtown College womens soccer team finished with a mark of 13-7-1 and was tied for first during the regular season in the Commonwealth Conference, but fell in the conference championship game, 2-0 to Messiah.
