ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S LACROSSE Villa Julie Holds Off Elizabethtown, 17-14 ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Cat Connelly and Lisa Baker led a balanced Villa Julie College attack with three goals apiece as the Mustangs picked up a 17-14 victory at Elizabethtown College in non-conference women's lacrosse action on Tuesday afternoon. Nine different players scored goals for the Mustangs (4-2 overall), who never trailed after overcoming an early 4-2 deficit with four straight goals against the Blue Jays (2-2 overall). Sophomore Megan Byrnes (Lutherville, MD/Towson) led the Blue Jays with five goals and two assists, while sophomore Stephanie Kreis (Bel Air, MD/John Carroll School) added four goals and an assist. Elizabethtown led 4-2 eight minutes into the contest, but Villa Julie scored seven of the game's next nine goals to take a 9-6 lead to halftime. The teams traded goals for the first 20 minutes of the second half, leaving the Blue Jays trailing 16-14 with 8:39 to go. However, Baker scored her third goal of the match with 2:05 left to clinch the win for the Mustangs. Junior Katie Foley (Palmyra, NJ/Holy Cross) and first-year student Sarah Cullinan (West Chester, PA/West Chester East) each added two goals for Elizabethtown, while first-year student Sarah Behounek (Street, MD/North Harford) chipped in a second-half tally for the Blue Jays. Jamie Jones, Lauren Zegowitz, Kristyna Hnizda and Julie Olson scored twice each for Villa Julie, while Mandi Carr, Ashley Cathcart and Brittany Connelly added single goals for the Mustangs. Junior Kelsea Kozak (Brookhaven, PA/Sun Valley) and sophomore Alisha Sangrey (Columbia, PA/Hempfield) each had two assists for the Blue Jays. Kreis led the Blue Jays with four draw controls, while Cullinan had a game-high four caused turnovers and Sangrey led with four ground balls. Hnizda posted five draw controls for the Mustangs, while Carr had a team-best four ground balls. Junior Jenn Hawkins (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) finished with 12 saves for Elizabethtown, while Caitlin Brzozowski made 13 stops for Villa Julie.
