MATTES DEFEATED TWICE AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

ADA, O. --- 197 pounder Art Mattes (Bethlehem, PA/Bethlehem Catholic), the first Elizabethtown wrestler to participate in the NCAA Division III championships since 1998, lost both of his matches on the opening day of the 2000 NCAA championships hosted by Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio. Mattes' record now stands at 30-5 in the 1999-2000 season.

In the opening round Friday, Mattes faced eighth-seeded Paul Grigsby of Ohio Northern. Grigsby won on an 8-3 decision. Mattes then faced Desi Molina from Case Western Reserve University, and lost to Molina in an 8-4 decision.
