ELIZABETHTOWN COLLEGE WOMEN'S SOCCER ETOWN'S RECORD-TYING WINNING STREAK ENDS WITH 1-0 OVERTIME LOSS TO RICHARD STOCKTON POMONA, N.J. --- After tying the Elizabethtown program record winning streak of ten games set in 1996, the Blue Jays were unable to continue
the streak After missing several chances to go ahead early in the game, the Blue Jays settled into a defensive stalemate with Stockton for much of regulation time. Etown had another close call early in the second half on a cross from Eileen Fretz to Kristy Wade (Trumbull, CT/St. Joseph) that almost found the goal. Despite outshooting Stockton 8-5, no goals were scored in the first two halves, and the game went into overtime, where Stockton's Chris Roefchke scored the game-winner after six minutes elapsed. Despite the loss, Etown has already clinched the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth championship and an NCAA Tournament berth. The Blue Jays are now 12-4 and face Millersville next on the road. Game time is 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 19. at Pomona, N.J.
