ETOWN DEFEATS GEORGIAN COURT, 3-2, TO FINISH REGULAR SEASON; BLUE JAYS GET HIGHEST SEED IN CONFERENCE PLAYOFFS LAKEWOOD, N.J. --- Saturday was an important day for Etown women's soccer for two reasons, as the Blue Jays defeated Georgian Court 3-2 to finish the regular season 12-6-1, and as Moravian's 1-0 upset of Messiah threw the highest seed of the Commonwealth Conference tournament to Elizabethtown. Jingoli also had an assist for the Blue Jays, and Christy Callahan (Dallas, PA/Dallas) had a pair of assists. Moravian's only loss came to Elizabethtown, 3-2, Elizabethtown's only loss came to Messiah, 2-1, and Messiah's only loss was Saturday's 1-0 loss to Moravian. Because Moravian scored three goals or more in five of its seven conference games and scored two goals in its loss to Etown and one goal in its win over Messiah, the Greyhounds get 18 points. Because Messiah scored three goals or more in five of its seven conference games, added two more goals in its win over Etown and got shut out by Moravian, the Falcons total comes to 17 points. Elizabethtown will face fourth-seeded Lebanon Valley at home in the opener of the Commonwealth Conference playoffs Wednesday, October 25. Game time is 2:30 p.m. |
