ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- Elizabethtown won the 2003 Wellesley tournament championship with a 1-0 win over Western Connecticut State Sunday afternoon at Wellesley College. The win boosts Etown's record to 4-0 overall, making this the Blue Jays' best start since 1997. Additionally, Etown forward Becca Young (Macungie, PA/Emmaus) was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after scoring two goals and assisting a third in Etown's 3-1 win over Wellesley Saturday.

Etown got its lone goal against Western Connecticut early in the second half as defender Shannon Don (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddon Heights) scored at 50:24 off an assist from Kelly Drumel (Swedesboro, NJ/Kingsway Regional).

Etown goaltender Amy Weid (Turnersville, NJ/Pitman) made eight saves to preserve the shutout as the Blue Jays out-shot Western Connecticut 20-11.
Etown will return to action as the host of local rival Franklin & Marshall in a 7:00 p.m. game Wednesday, September 10.
